My garage door was intermittently not closing & I had to close it manually. When I disengaged the garage door opener, it would work for a while. When Bill checked it out, he found it all in good shape & explained that it probably was the opener since it is so old & that my next step would be to get a new opener. He carefully checked everything & then only charged me for the service fee. I would definintely call & ask for Bill, if he is available, when I get the money together for a new system.
